Frequently Asked Questions

...or FAQ's as you might know them

What is a Stomp Box?

A stomp box (or stompbox) is a simple percussion instrument consisting of a small box placed under the foot, which is tapped or stamped on rhythmically to produce a sound similar to that of a bass drum. A stomp box allows a performer such as a singer or guitar player to create a simple rhythmic self-accompaniment. Stompboxes are commonly used in folk and blues music, but they are becoming more popular across the musical spectrum. The Beat Root Stomp Box is a unique, hand-crafted product made using sustainably sourced wood from Devon, UK.

Where's my stuff?

Please be aware that Beat Root is a one man craft operation and all Beat Root stomp units are hand made.

It takes time to select timber, hollow the blocks out to house pickups, fit the internal workings and finish. Unfortunately we don't have rows of stock just waiting to ship out!   Particularly when demand is high it can take a few days to get your Beat Root out to you. Europe and Worldwide orders will be a week or so due to shipping times.

If you require a stomp box urgently then you may prefer to purchase elsewhere.

Whats the shipping time for international orders?

We use Royal Mail 'Air Sure' and 'Registered Signed For' for all international orders, and depending on your country this can take up to 7 days for West USA destinations, and up to 5 days for Europe.

Please be aware that customs security is tight, particularly in the U.S.A - a hand made wooden box with electronics and wiring inside sometimes sets off security alarms! If a parcel gets held in customs it's generally only for a day or two.

We are sorry but we no longer ship to Israel and Russia as too many parcels were getting 'lost' in the internal mail.

How should I look after my Beat Root?

We use a hard-wearing durable oil finish that penetrates deeply into the timber so feeding and protecting the wood for many years. However you may find that the sheen fades over time - in this case, a thin coat of 'Danish Oil' or similar high-quality oil finish will soon bring the wood back to life.

We don't use varnish as this sits on the surface and does nothing to 'feed' and protect the fibres of the timber.

Why don't they all have the same grain?

No two pieces of wood are alike. It is impossible to repeat the same grain pattern with each unit. Your Beat Root is unique!

Does it need batteries?

Nope - the Beat Root uses passive high output ceramic pickups that do not require batteries.

How about returns?

We offer a common sense returns policy. In the unlikely event you are unhappy with your Beat Root stomper, We will happily replace or refund if the unit is undamaged and returned within a couple of weeks.
